When you have seen all there is to see, done all there is to do, eaten all there is to eat and still aren’t ready for bed. No problem.
Puerto Vallarta offers a variety of post-dinner options. Many visitors are captivated by the colonial charm of Puerto Vallarta and enjoy relaxing over a cognac or dessert wine, enjoying the cool night air and romantic views and listening to some pleasant music. Others can take advantage of the many nightspots and the number of leading restaurants that have live bands. Nightlife also centers on the hotels and most have attractive lobby bars where visitors and locals alike gather.
For those who want to party the night away to hot tunes and flashing lights, Puerto Vallarta now offers a wealth of cool clubs, discos, and open-air beach places.
This dazzling club draws a crowd on the north side of Vallarta with a capacity of around 1,200. The club has been recently remodeled with a complete change in the interior. The disco was as well upgraded with a new sound system. Every night is a laser and light show and access to VIP rooms. There is a cover charge, though women get in free on Tues and Fri. The vibe is truly amazing, and the mix of music can get almost anyone dancing. Dress code: No tennis shoes or flip-flops, no shorts for men. Open daily, 8pm-4am, the light show begins at 11pm.
You'll recognize Hilo by the giant sculptures that practically reach out the front entrance and pull you into this high-energy club, which has become a favorite with the 20-something set. Music ranges from house and electronic to rock. It seems the later the hour, the more crowded the place becomes. This is one of Vallarta's exciting clubs, "hip, hot, great sound system, and cool decor”. Popular with an upscale 20-something crowd. Cover charge on weekends. Open daily, 4pm-6am
This is the locally popular place to go for dancing to Latin music -- from salsa to samba, the dancing is hot! On Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays the air-conditioned club features live music, Weds-Sat, with cumbia, romantica, meringue, danzon, tango, rock & roll. Get out your dancing shoes and be prepared for a night of ´true´ Latino dancing. Open daily from 10pm to 6am.
This authentic Cuban restaurant and bar is known for its casual energy, terrific live Cuban music, and mojitos. It is a branch of the original Bodeguita in Havana (reputedly Hemingway's favorite restaurant there). If you can't get to that one, the Vallarta version has successfully imported the essence -- and has a small souvenir shop that sells Cuban cigars, rum, and other items. The downstairs has large wooden windows that open to the malecon street action, while the upstairs offers terrific views of the bay. There is Cuban cuisine in the upstairs area with pleasant views of the malecon and the Bay. Live traditional Cuban music, boleros and rumbas from around 9pm to midnight or so. Open daily, Noon-2am
BRAND NEW! Hottest new wave!! Come see Vallarta's newest high-tech restaurant, disco and video bar. The location next door to The Zoo, where Club 69 and Mogambo used to be. Mandala is becoming popular with the tourist and upscale crowds and taking the nightlife scene by storm. The multilevel monster of nighttime entertainment includes always-packed Disco Bar, with frequent live entertainment. Open daily from 10am to 6am.
This restaurant and international night-club chain with a lively atmosphere, especially on the weekends, has moved over to downtown from the South Side. Big drinks and loud music make this a favorite with the younger groups. Occasionally live bands appear, always a college spring break favorite and often crowded. You can order food until midnight. This Puerto Vallarta club is all about having fun. Open daily, 11am-4am
Opened in 2007, Z'Tai is a stunning array of spaces that span an entire city block. Enter from the malecón, and you'll discover ZBar, an upstairs lounge with chill-out music, bay views, and comfy banquettes to relax on. Venture further into this club and you'll find an expansive open air garden area that serves cocktails as well as an array of Asian-inspired dining and snacking options, accompanied by electronic music at a level still appropriate for conversation. Seating is casual and spans several elevations, overlooking Zen gardens and flowing ponds. At the opposite end (Calle Morelos entrance), there's an air-conditioned dining area. They also offer valet service or shuttle service to wherever you parked your car. Open daily for food service from 6pm to 2am, with bar service until 4am.
Vallarta's chic dining spot is known more for the urban, hip crowd. This lounge/club is as well known as the hot spot for locals. The lower level holds an air-conditioned bar and dance floor (after midnight, when dining tables have been cleared away), where a DJ spins the hottest of house and techno. Upstairs, there's an open-air rooftop bar with chill-out music and acid jazz. Enjoy the tunes and the fresh air while lounging around on one of the several oversize beds. The restaurant bar is open daily from 5pm to 1am; the club is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10pm to 6am.
